Vegan.co.uk's impact on the environment

What we do to help.

Environmental issues are in all the newspapers today and this is why vegan.co.uk prides itself on being environmentally friendly in as many ways as possible.

To begin with the fact that we sell products which contain no dairy, meat, leather or and animal products at all helps to cut down the amount of water that is being waisted around the world. only 250 litres of water is used to produce 1kg of wheat, in comparison to 25,000 litres of water to produce just 1kg of meat. There are many other ways vegan produce is better for the environment. The CO2 emissions that are produced in processing meat are said to produce 1.5 extra tonnes per year per person. It has been said eating a meat diet is the equivalent of driving an SUV. Becoming a vegetarian is like swapping down to a hybrid car. And here at vegan.co.uk we have taken the final option which has been said to be the same as riding a bike or walking.

But it is not just the food and items we sell that helps the environment, here at vegan.co.uk we look into every aspect to try and make our carbon footprint as small as possible. Everything we use in our packaging proccess which includes: boxes, tape, filler, business cards, stickers and more are all bought from companies that are either using recycled materials or producing something the consumer can recycle.

Vegan.co.uk also tries its hardest to source as many products as possible locally. there are a few major brands that must come in from over seas but local farming and product manufacturing is what we aim to find and sell online in our store.

Vegan.co.uk aims to help protect the environment in as many ways as possible and by visiting our charities section you can see who we support and on our friends page. we support a number of charities and blogs, and are happy to encorporate anyone who emails us.

And if you want to do your part to help. Try looking at our new to vegan and recipe sections. See if you can cook something spectacular and impress a omni friend into becoming vegan and therefore more environmentally friendly.
